Last June, INTIA, LiveNet partner, participated in the National Panel of REDES TECO-RENGRATI on Dairy Cattle 2025, which discussed the results of the sector for the 2024 fiscal year.
RENGRATI focuses on setting up and maintaining permanent technical and economic information networks for the different livestock sectors in Spain. To this end, an infrastructure or network of institutions and individuals that provide information has been established, including the main producer associations, researchers, consultants, producers, and related administrations, such as INTIA.
The methodology used in this framework is based on the accounting records of real farms with similar characteristics, which are classified to represent the most common production system in the region where they are located, in terms of size, management, and yields. In addition to validations carried out according to international methodology, national meetings with producers, referred to in the network’s terminology as “panels,” are held to discuss and validate the results in order to ensure greater representativeness.
Given the need for economic information systems for the livestock sectors that would allow comparisons to be made at the farm, regional, national, and international levels, the Directorate General of Agricultural Production and Markets of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture launched the National Network of Typical Farms (RENGRATI project) in 2003.
RENGRATI aims to serve as a strategic tool by providing accurate and up-to-date information on production costs, profitability, profits, and break-even points to support the sectors and as a reference for practical decision-making, helping to guide the immediate future of these sectors in the right direction.
The RENGRATI network currently has 52 typical farms, including 15 dairy cattle farms, 10 beef cattle farms, 9 suckler cow farms, 8 sheep meat farms, 5 sheep milk farms, and 5 goat farms, representing the main production systems and most relevant regions in each sector.
